Cameron Miller has reestablished the pipeline from South Jersey to the University of Wisconsin.

One of the top wide receivers in the Garden State, the Winslow High School junior verbally committed to attend the Big 10 school last week.

Among the big names to play for the Badgers: Corey Clement (Glassboro High), Jonathan Taylor (Salem) and Ron Dayne (Overbrook), who won the 1999 Heisman Trophy. All three running backs went on to play in the National Football League.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound Miller blends electrifying speed and physicality to make him a game changer on both sides of the ball.

Miller chose Wisconsin over Michigan, Kentucky and Rutgers among other Division I offers. He was recruited as a wide receiver.

What can Wisconsin fans expect from Miller?

"First, I'm a competitor, second I'm a guy that is going to create space and get open. I just want to be a solid all-around wide receiver," said Miller, who plans to study either business or communications in college.

"I realize that the small things can really improve my game by a lot. I'm just working on those small things and that's really going to make my game blast up."

Winslow head coach Bill Belton said Miller did plenty of research before making his decision to become a Badger.

“He had a checklist of things that were important to him, he weighed all the pros and cons for the schools, and Wisconsin checked all of those boxes,” Belton said.

While Miller said the recruiting process was stressful at times, it was something he thoroughly enjoyed.

"Going through the whole process was a beautiful thing," said Miller, who visited the Madison campus in March. "It felt like a fit for me. I liked the environment, the people and the team. Ultimately, I felt it like it was the school I would be able to go to and just ball out."

Miller is coming off a standout season after he made 57 catches for 1,334 yards and 15 touchdowns. The  receiving yards ranked seventh for a single season in South Jersey history and his 28 career TDs is ninth, according to local football historian Chuck Langerman.

Miller, an All-South Jersey and All-State selection, has 112 receptions for 2,131 yards, which is 13 yards shy of the program record set by Devante Waugh in 2010.

On defense, he had two interceptions and 33 tackles for Winslow, which captured the Central Jersey Group 4 crown and won 10 games for the first time in two decades. He also returned two punts for touchdowns on special teams.

He becomes the first player from Winslow to attend Wisconsin since Lee DeRamus in 1989, when the high school was called Edgewood. DeRamus went on to play two years in the NFL for the New Orleans Saints.

Miller is competing in track this spring, running the 100, 200 and 110 high hurdles. However, Belton says football is always on Miller’s mind no matter what time of year.

“As a player, mentally he’s just in a different space,” Belton said. “He’s locked into his football life. He does all the right things inside and outside of the building. He has a pro mindset at a very young age and it’s just been business as usual for him.”
