Winn to be honored at Pekin on Tuesday

Dec. 18—PEKIN — Just six months after making his Major League debut with the San Francisco Giants, Ollie native Keaton Winn will be honored on Tuesday night by the Pekin Community School District.

Winn will have his No. 23 baseball jersey retired in between the varsity girls and boys basketball games against Louisa-Muscatine. The varsity girls game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. The varsity boys game, which will follow the ceremony, is scheduled to begin at approximatley 7:30 p.m.

Winn, a 2016 Pekin graduate, was a fifth-round draft pick by the Giants in 2018 after playing college baseball at Iowa Western Community College. Winn was called up to pitch for the Giants this past summer, making his debut at Busch Stadium against the St. Louis Cardinals during a three-game June series in which Winn became the first Giant pitcher to earn a save in a major league debut allowing just one run on one hit, three walks and one hit batter while striking out four batters throwing 55 pitches becoming just the third pitcher in the last 60 years to pitch four or more innings and earn a save in their major league debut.
