Wilmington-area high school sports top performers from Sept. 4-8
Conference play has finally reached the Wilmington area, and high school athletics will be filled with action this week. As we gear up for some intense conference rivalries, let's first look at the area's best performance from the Week of Sept. 4-8.
From football to golf, here are last week's best performances from the Wilmington area.

LANEY FOOTBALL Laney football fights off Cape Fear in a wild, back-and-forth battle
Football
Tyjhere Crudup, Sr., Laney: Crudup rushed for three touchdowns and 144 yards on 24 carries as the Buccaneers defeated Cape Fear 28-21 Friday night.
Hampton Roderick, Jr., Laney: The junior caught seven passes for 135 yards and a touchdown on the night.
Eli Hebron, Jr., Topsail: Hebron went 22 for 32 with 307 passing yards and four touchdowns as Topsail cruised past Swansboro 34-7.
Caden Wilson, Sr, Topsail: The senior wideout caught three passes for 105 yards and two touchdowns in the win.
Hudson Wilharm, Sr., Hoggard: Wilharm threw three touchdowns and rushed for another as the Vikings cruised past J.H. Rose 38-14.
Boys soccer
Clark Beery, Jr., Hoggard: The junior scored six goals as Hoggard earned two wins by a score of 9-0 on the week.
Isaiah Jumansingh, Soph., Hoggard: The forward scored four times on the week.
Alex Flores, Jr., Trask: Flores scored a hat trick as the Vikings defeated West Columbus 9-0 Wednesday.
Jake Errett, Jr., Wilmington Christian Acadamy: Errett scored three times as the Patriots picked up one win on the week.
Volleyball
Maggie Clucas, Sr., Cape Fear Academy: Clucas brought in 30 kills and four aces in two games as the Hurricanes went 1-1 on the week.
Carolina Bariglio, Sr., Cape Fear Academy: Bariglio notched 14 kills as the Hurricanes fell 3-1 to Southeastern HomeSchool Wednesday.
Emma Anderson, Sr., Coastal Christian: Anderson had 35 kills as the Centurians went 5-1 on the week.
Violet Hakan, Jr., Hoggard: The junior recorded 52 kills across six games as the Vikings went 6-1 on the week.
Mia Elder, Sr., Hoggard: The senior recorded 43 kills in the Vikings victories on the week.
Nya Coury, Jr., Topsail: The junior recorded 17 kills in two games as the Scorpions went 2-1 on the week.
Isabel Sandstrum, Sr., Laney: Sandstrum notched 13 kills as Laney defeated South Brunswick 3-0 Thursday.
Girls tennis
Hailey Schreiber, Jr., Hoggard: The junior picked up two wins at No. 1 singles on the week as the Vikings rolled past Laney and Hoggard 8-1.
Laurryen Lennon, Jr., Laney: Lennon earned two No. 1 singles wins on the week as Laney went 2-1 overall as a team.
Karli Hartman, Jr., Topsail: Hartman went 8-0 Tuesday night at No. 1 singles as the Pirates rolled past West Brunswick 7-2.
Carys Subach, Soph., South Brunswick: The sophomore went 8-0 at No. 1 singles as the Cougars defeated North Brunswick 9-0.
Girls golf
Ellie Hildreth, Jr., Hoggard: Hildreth claimed her first medalist honors of the fall season as she shot 34, and Hoggard earned a team win in the second Mideastern Conference golf tournament of the season Thursday.
Sarah Enright, Sr., Ashley: The senior finished second to Hildreth as she shot 37 Thursday.
Jillian Fatkin, Sr., South Brunswick: Fatkin shot 38, good enough for third place as the Cougars second in the competition.
