Wilmington-area high school playoff brackets, scores for 2023 fall postseason

The 2023 fall postseason is coming to a close for Wilmington-area teams, as Monday marked the end of the boys soccer playoffs.

Only football, which has six area teams entering Round 2 on Friday, remains. For this week's brackets and more, follow along below.

Girls Golf

NCHSAA state championships: Oct. 30-31, 2023

Jillian Fatkin, Sr., South Brunswick: Fatkin claimed her first NCHSAA 3A girls golf individual title as she shot 75 on day one and 78 on day two at Firefox golf course. Fatkin is the first girls golfer in South Brunswick history to claim an individual girls golf title.

Ellie Hildreth, Jr., Hoggard: Hildreth shot 71 on day one of the 2023 NCHSAA 4A girls golf championship at Pinehurst on Monday, good enough for fourth place overall. On day two, the junior shot 75, bringing her two day total to 145 and placing fifth overall in the competition.

NCHSAA 4A Regionals: Oct. 23, 2023

Hoggard golfer Ellie Hildreth was the top medalist in the NCHSAA 4A regionals at The Emerald Golf Club on Monday. The Vikings, who also saw Grace Caudill (6th) and Madison Fankboner (15th) finish inside the top 20, took first overall in as a team at the event.

Ashley's Sarah Enright finished tenth in the competition, while Laney's Mary O'Malley and Karly Woodall also finished inside the top 20.

NCHSAA 3A Regionals: Oct. 23, 2023

Jillian Fatkin built off a fantastic regular season by earning top medalists honors in Monday's NCHSAA 3A Regional at Wedgewood Golf Course. The senior was joined by fellow South Brunswick golfer Lilly Powell who finished fourth.

Cross Country

NCHSAA: 4A State championship: Nov. 4, 2023

Ashlei Summers, Sr., Hoggard: Summers took home the area's top spot in Saturday's NCHSAA 4A state championship in Kernersville, finishing fourth overall.

Aedon Schroeder, Soph., Hoggard: The sophomore finished 13th overall in the boys 5K at Saturday's 4A state championship, giving him the best finish of any boys area runner in the competition with a time of 15:59.80.

Daniel Kelmer, Sr., Laney: Kelmer was less than a second behind Schroeder, placing 14th in the event.

NCHSAA 4A state regionals: Oct. 28, 2023

Ashlei Summers, Sr., Hoggard: Summers earned second in the girls 5K at the NCHSAA 4A state regionals on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. The Hoggard girls finished second overall at regionals.

Aedon Schroeder, Soph., Hoggard: The Vikings runner had his best race of the season, finishing second overall in the boys 5K at the NCHSAA 4A state regionals on Saturday, Oct. 28. The Hoggard boys finished first overall at regionals.

Daniel Kelmer, Sr., Laney: Kelmer placed third, crossing the finish line around four seconds after Schroeder.

NCHSAA 3A state regionals: Oct. 28, 2023

Bryson Hollis, Soph., West Brunswick: Hollis was the area's only 3A runner to secure a top 10 finish at Saturday's NCHSAA 3A state regional, running a time of 17:14.44.
