Why Vikings fans should be excited about Christian Darrisaw

In a move perceived as one of the biggest steals of Round 1 of the 2021 NFL Draft, the Minnesota Vikings snagged Virginia Tech offensive tackle Christian Darrisaw with the No. 23 overall pick.

Darrisaw is a physically-gifted offensive tackle prospect who has a high athletic ceiling at the offensive tackle position. He moves incredibly well for his size, showcasing optimal lateral agility and impressive acceleration climbing to the second level.

Polished and coordinated as an athlete, he makes the most out of his athletic talents. He also packs a powerful punch at the point of attack and has the raw strength in his upper body to physically control defenders upon contact.

Minnesota has done a good job of investing in their offensive line with such recent draft picks as Ezra Cleveland, Garrett Bradbury and Brian O’Neill. Darrisaw has the potential to be the best of that bunch, and if he pans out at the NFL level, he could serve as a bookend for the Vikings’ offensive line as a left tackle for years to come.
