Why Tennessee Titans RB Derrick Henry has a custom-made Peyton Manning Colts jersey at his house

As the Tennessee Titans and Indianapolis Colts prepare for a rivalry week showdown, Titans star running back Derrick Henry said he has a custom-made Colts jersey in his house.

But for good reason.

Henry said Thursday that former Colts and Tennessee football legend Peyton Manning sent him a customized "Young Peyton Manning" jersey, making a reference to the nickname Henry dubbed for himself after throwing touchdown passes.

"Got to spend some time with him at the Pro Bowl this past season," Henry said of his relationship with the Hall of Fame quarterback. "It was cool meeting him and getting to know him. Yeah, yeah, he put ‘Young Peyton Manning’ on there, too. It was kinda cool."

Henry has used that nickname on multiple occasions, highlighting how successful he is throwing passes on trick plays. Henry is a career 6-for-7 passing in the regular season with three touchdowns, plus another touchdown pass in the postseason.

He threw his most recent touchdown last week, taking advantage of a stacked box on the goal line from his "King Cat" formation and throwing to tight end Josh Whyle after catching a direct snap.

In response, the Titans' social media team posted a video of Manning describing his past self as a "young Derrick Henry," complete with a video of a long Manning scramble.

Henry says he has a growing collection of uniforms from great NFL players from jersey swaps after games. He said he has Colts jerseys from running back Jonathan Taylor and linebacker Shaquille Leonard. Some of his other favorites are those of running backs Adrian Peterson and Christian McCaffrey.

The Titans (2-2) visit the Colts (2-2) at Lucas Oil Stadium on Sunday (noon, CBS).
