WHS graduate named All-NSAA and receives conference's first Long Snapper of the Year award

MADISON — Braxton Lacher, a 2021 Watertown High School graduate, has made history in the North Star Athletic Association.

Lacher, a 6-foot, 230-pound sophomore on Dakota State University's football team, was named to the NSAA's All-Conference football team and received the conference's first-ever Long Snapper of the Year honor.

The all-conference team and a variety of postseason awards are voted on by the league's coaches. The Long Snapper of the Year, Lineman of the Year and Player of the Year Awards were presented for the first time in 2023.

Lacher became the first-ever snapper to be named to NSAA Football All-Conference First Team in conference history (conference started in 2013-14). He served as the Trojans' snapper in all 10 games this fall n and did not record a bad snap.

He recorded a tackle on the punt return during DSU's 19-14 home victory over Mayville State (N.D.) on Nov. 4 on Dan Beacom Track Complex.

Lacher, the son of Kenny and Jenny Lacher of Watertown, also serves on the Captains' Council in the Dakota State Athletics' Department. He is a sophomore biology major at Dakota State University.

Lacher originally signed to play baseball at DSU. After his freshman season in 2021, he joined DSU's football team in the fall of 2022.

Two other players with area connections also were named to the All-NSAA team. Micah Olson of Valley City State (N.D.), a junior defensive back from Dawson (Minn.) was named to the second team. Dakota State's Marcis Hausman, a senior defensive back from Estelline, received honorable mention.

Olson made 29 tackles, including 18 solos, and three interceptions this fall. Hausman recorded 32 tackles, including 14 solos, this fall.
