Who's in, who's out? See which boys and girls soccer teams made the region tournament

The Florida High School Athletic Association released the girls and boys regional soccer matchups Friday afternoon on its YouTube channel.

Seven area girls teams and seven area boys teams will compete for a state championship.

The Class 2A to 4A regional quarterfinals are Tuesday, Feb. 6 with the semifinals Friday, Feb. 9 and the finals Wednesday, Feb 14.

District soccer roundup: Complete coverage of who won district championship trophies

The Class 5A to 7A regional quarterfinals are Tuesday, Feb. 13 with the semifinals Friday, Feb. 16 and the finals, Feb. 21.

The Class 2A to 4A State Championships are Feb. 20 to 24  at Lake Myrtle Sports Park in Auburndale.

The Class 5A to 7A State Championships are Feb. 27 to March 2 at Spec Martin Stadium in DeLand.

Here are the matchups and a breakdown of the regional quarterfinals:

GIRLS

Class 7A-Region 2

No. 3 Palm Harbor University (13-3-1) at No. 6 Riverview (11-4-2)

After winning its first district title in 18 years, defeating Lakewood Ranch High and North Port High on the road, the Rams will be home for the first round of regionals against a Palm Harbor University team that lost in the state semifinals a year ago on penalty kicks. Riverview is 0-3 against the Hurricanes with the most-recent meeting in 2017.

No. 7 Plant City Durant (11-3-2) at No. 2 North Port (12-3)

Despite losing in the district final at home to Riverview, the Bobcats received the second seed and a home match. Durant lost to Newsome, 3-1, in the district final. It is the first meeting between the teams.

No. 5 Lakewood Ranch (6-3-2) at No. 4 Lutz Steinbrenner (13-3-2)

The Mustangs, who lost to Riverview 3-2 in the district semifinals, received a higher seed than the Rams but will be on the road for the opening round. Lakewood Ranch is 3-1-1 against Steinbrenner, including a 5-1 win over the Warriors in the regional semifinals last year.

Class 5A-Region 3

No. 6 Braden River (11-2-2) at No. 3 Parrish Community (9-7-1)

Just as Pirates coach Don Engelberger suggested, the Pirates get a rematch with the Bulls after dropping a 2-1 decision in the district final. After a scoreless first half, Braden River took a 1-0 lead before Parrish Community came back with a couple of goals to capture its third straight district title. The Bulls are 6-1 against the Pirates, winning six straight.

Class 2A-Region 3

No. 5 Saint Stephen’s Episcopal (10-3-3) at No. 4 Tampa Carrollwood Day (11-4-2)

The FHSAA announced the Falcons will head to Harvent Community in Jacksonville, but Harvest Community does not have a girls soccer team. Instead Saint Stephen’s will head to Tampa to face a Carrollwood Day team that defeated Shorecrest Prep in penalty kicks, 5-4, to win its district title. Winners of three straight and unbeaten in their past four, the Falcons blanked Indian Rocks Christian, 2-0, to win their district championship.

No. 3 Out-of-Door Academy (12-1-1) at No. 6 First Baptist of Naples (11-5-1)

The Thunder will travel to Naples since the Lions won their district title 3-2 over Naples Seacrest Country Day. The higher-seeded Thunder suffered their first loss of the season in the district semifinal to Imagine School at North Port, 1-0. Imagine School at North Port did not receive a bid despite reaching the district final, losing to Fort Myers Canterbury, 2-0. In the only meeting, Out-of-Door posted a 7-1 victory over First Baptist in 2017.

Next up: Winner plays No. 2 Fort Myers Canterbury-Naples Seacrest Country Day winner.

BOYS

Class 7A-Region 2

No. 6 North Port (12-3-4) at No. 3 Plant City Durant (11-1-1)

The Bobcats, who defeated Lakewood Ranch High 4-3 in a shootout after the teams battled to a 2-2 tie during regulation and overtime, hit the road to play a Durant team that has not lost since a 4-1 setback to Tampa Bloomingdale on Nov. 17. The Cougars defeated Davenport Ridge Community, 3-1, for its district championship. It is the first meeting between the teams.

Next up: Winner plays No. 2 Windermere-No. 7 Orlando Olympia winner

No. 5 Riverview (10-3-3) at Orlando Cypress Creek (12-3-3)

The Rams, who lost 5-0 in the district semifinals to Lakewood Ranch, have even a further trip than North Port, heading to Orlando. Cypress Creek lost its district final to Orlando Lake Nona via penalty kicks, 5-3, after the teams played to a 2-all tie. It is the first meeting between the sides.

Class 6A-Region 3

No. 5 Palmetto (13-3-2) at New Port Richey Mitchell (17-4-3)

It is a battle of district runners-up after the Tigers lost to Valrico Bloomingdale, 3-1, and the Mustangs were blanked by unbeaten Sunlake, 1-0. Mitchell is 2-0 against Palmetto with the most-recent meeting in 2021.

Class 5A-Region 3

No. 1 Barron Collier (11-1-2) at No. 8 Parrish Community (10-8-1)

Despite suffering its first loss of the season, a 3-1 setback to Naples Lely in the district final, the Cougars gained the top seed, but must go on the road to visit the eighth-seeded Bulls. Parrish Community lost its district championship match 1-0 to Braden River. It is the first meeting between the teams.

Next up: Winner plays No. 4 Cape Coral Mariner-No. 5 Naples Lely winner

No. 7 Braden River (12-2-1) at No. 2 Naples (12-4-1)

The district runner-up Pirates will make the trip south for a match against the Golden Eagles. In last year’s first round, Naples pinned a 2-1 setback on Braden River in Bradenton in the first meeting between the sides. The Golden Eagles went on to lose the 5A state championship 3-1 to American Heritage.

Class 2A-Region 3

No. 4 Shorecrest Prep (6-3-2) at No. 5 Bradenton Christian (9-5-2)

The Bradenton Christian School boys soccer team won the Class 2A-District 10 tournament with a 2-1 victory over Keswick Christian on Thursday evening.

The Panthers receive a home match based on their 2-1 victory over Keswick Christian for the district championship to extend their winning streak to three. Shorecrest Prep dropped its district final to Cambridge Christian. Bradenton Christian defeated the Chargers twice last year, both 1-0, the latter in the first round of the regionals.

No. 3 Out-of-Door Academy (13-3) at No. 6 Community School of Naples (6-6-2)

The Thunder had a 10-game winning streak snapped when they lost to Fort Myers Canterbury, 2-1, in the district final. The Seahawks extended their winning streak to three with a win over Naples First Baptist in their district championship match. Community School of Naples is 3-1 against Out-of-Door with the most-recent meeting in 2017.
