Who's running in the 2024 Boston Marathon? Here are the local runners who qualified

More than 33,000 registered runners — a new record — will toe the starting line in Hopkinton for the 26.2-mile trip to Boston on Monday.

Many are your neighbors, people you see in everyday life.

Like Framingham Assistant Fire Chief John Schultz. Or City Councilor-at-Large George King. Former Natick High School track star Kate Connolly. And Wellesley High School girls basketball coach Glen Magpiong.

How about elite runners? Any locals? Yes indeed. Meet Southborough's Lauren Ames, Bib No. 158 (she wore 1287 last year, so you know she's been working hard).

And speaking of elite, there's future Hall of Fame NHL defenseman Zdeno Chara. He'll wear Bib No. 3333. Of course.

There are 63 registered entrants from Wellesley, 54 from Hopkinton, 52 from Natick and 49 from Framingham. At the other end of the scale, Bellingham has three — all named "John" — while Mendon has two and Hopedale one.

Hundreds of MetroWest and Greater Milford residents in all are tackling the Boston Marathon. It runs through our proverbial backyard(s). You're almost certain to know, or recognize, more than a few of them.
