White Pigeon wrestling registers third straight district crown

WHITE PIGEON — For the third year in a row, the White Pigeon wrestling team has secured a district championship.

The Chiefs hosted Wednesday's district tournament, which saw them beat Marcellus 72-12 and Schoolcraft 60-18.

White Pigeon opened with Marcellus. David Lane (106), Mazzy Lambert (113), Drew Johnson (120), Hunter Pant (126), Maddix Jancasz (132), Evan Rudloff (150), Jaden Zambrano (157) and Tiago Andande (165) each earned a victory by void.

Slow start dooms Sturgis girls basketball on Tuesday

Jesse Fielis (138), Luke Hinkson (144), Caleb Lane (175) and Chaz Underwood (285) each won by pinfall for the Chiefs.

Winning for Marcellus were Adan Deer at 190 and Nate Irwin at 215, both by pin.

White Pigeon took out Schoolcraft in the district finals 60-18.

Caleb Lane won by pin for the first win for White Pigeon. Seth Miller (215), Underwood, David Lane, Lambert, Johnson, Fielis, Hinkson and Rudloff all won by pin for the Chiefs.

Romanyk earns silver at World Ability Sports Games

Pant picked up an 8-3 win, Jancasz won as well at 132.

With the win, White Pigeon qualifies for the regional round. The Chiefs will compete at the individual wrestling districts hosted by Schoolcraft on Saturday.
