While there's still a month before the final March Madness bracket takes shape, the NCAA Tournament selection committee revealed Thursday night on ESPN2 which way it's leaning on Kim Mulkey and the No. 13-ranked Tigers — as well as the rest of the top 16 seeds.

The committee listed LSU (21-4, 8-3 SEC) as a No. 4 seed in the Albany 2 region and overall No. 14. In that region, Ohio State is the No. 1 seed, followed by North Carolina State at No. 2 and No. 3 USC.

LSU sports the ninth-best NET rankings in women's college basketball as of Thursday night and currently sits second in the Southeastern Conference behind the selection committee's No. 1 overall seed South Carolina.

The Tigers opened the 2023-24 season with a loss to Colorado, who the committee has on the 1-line as the No. 4 overall seed, in Las Vegas.

During the broadcast, the NCAA Division I women's basketball chairperson Lisa Peterson said some of the metrics the committee has been taking into account is not only quality wins, but also the quality of teams' losses.
