Where LSU women's basketball stands in NCAA Tournament projections after Florida win
The latest NCAA Tournament projections for LSU women's basketball suggests that the loss to Mississippi State on the road was pretty substantial.
LSU's loss to South Carolina wouldn't have moved it down in the bracketology but after another loss at MSU, Kim Mulkey's team slid down to a No. 4 seed from the 3-line. The Tigers responded Sunday with a 106-66 thumping of Florida, a team that has spent time projected as a NCAA Tournament bubble team, but there was no movement.
It seems LSU, because it has four losses on the season including a head-scratcher at Auburn, has entrenched itself on the 4-line. But that also says the Tigers' margin for error in hosting the first rounds of the NCAA tourney the remainder of the regular season and the SEC Tournament is paper thin.
Let's look at the latest March Madness bracketology for LSU:
ESPN: 4 seed (Portland 3)
ESPN kept the Tigers on the 4-line after the convincing win over Florida at home. It appears LSU has some ground to make up on other 4 seeds and 3 seeds after the Mississippi State loss. In Charlie Creme's latest update, he has LSU in the Portland 3 region, opening up the tourney against No. 13 South Dakota State in Baton Rouge. The Tigers would meet the winner of No. 5 Oregon State and No. 12 Florida Gulf Coast. Mulkey's team would be on collision course with No. 1 North Carolina State in the Sweet Sixteen in Portland.
