Where Georgia baseball stands in latest NCAA Tournament field projections

With three SEC series left in the regular season, Georgia baseball seems to be in position to return to the NCAA Tournament under first-year coach Wes Johnson.

The Bulldogs carry a 32-12 overall record into a weekend series with No. 13 Vanderbilt and a strong RPI.

Georgia has missed out on the NCAA tournament two of the last three seasons. The Bulldogs need to avoid a late season slide to ensure their favorable postseason spot. They also could still play their way into hosting a regional.

"I think we're in a good spot," Johnson, whose team is 10-11 in the SEC, said Thursday afternoon. "You know this league, we've got nine left. Everybody knows the numbers. I've seen all kinds of crazy stats. People will text me. Shoot me over. We know this, 15 (SEC) wins is pretty much your golden ticket. There's a a lot of metrics saying 13 gets you in this year. I'm not going to look at those things. I'm not going to have our guys look at those things."

The NCAA Tournament field will be announced on May 27 at 12 p.m.
