Westbrook Christian boys golf wins second straight Class 3A state title, four place in top 10

Westbrook Christian boys golf took home its second straight Class 3A state title on Tuesday, behind all four golfers placing inside the top 10.

The tournament was shortened to 27 holes from the original 36 due to expected weather on Tuesday. Westbrook Christian took the title by 10 strokes over Northside Methodist with a team score of 308.

“We had all but one of our guys back from last year’s championship team so we kind of thought we could have a chance again this year. This group loves to practice and that’s why they were able to get back to the state championship again and hold on to win it," assistant coach Rob McHugh said.

Eli Edge finished in a tie for second at 4-over in his title defense while JD Berndt struggled on day two ending up in a tie for fourth at 8-over. Nolan Terrell shot 9-over and Cove McHugh shot 12-over. Braxton Wolfe finished in 22nd place with his scores not counting for the Warriors.
