Crystal Palace fight back to grab draw at West Ham

Roy Hodgson's Eagles fought back to grab a good point away at West Ham in a very even game at London Stadium on Sunday.

WATCH FULL REPLAY

West Ham took the lead through in-form winger Mohammed Kudus but couldn't build on it and a terrible defensive mistake allowed Odsonne Edouard to score in the second half.

Both teams huffed and puffed but neither could find a winner as David Moyes and Roy Hodgson both settled for a point. With the draw West Ham now have 21 points, while Palace have 16.

Pragmatism wins the day

Both West Ham and Crystal Palace went to their default setting of being pragmatic and keeping hold of what they had as Moyes and Hodgson used their years of experience to cancel one another out. It wasn't a classic in east London but after West Ham took the lead through the lively Kudus you expected them to kick on. But Palace, to their credit, dug in and dragged themselves back into the game. They were given a gift of an equalizer, something Moyes will rue from stand-in defender Mavropanos, but both managers made sure the scoring stopped there for their opponents and that led to limited chances in attack. Neither team deserved to win this game but both put in a respectable display and underlined why they will finish around midtable in the Premier League this season.

What’s next?

West Ham head to bitter rivals Tottenham on Thursday, Dec. 7. Palace host Bournemouth on Wednesday, Dec. 6.

Full time: West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace

Neither team really went for it late on and they were happy to grab a point and move on.

Hammers pushing hard to go back ahead

Paqueta picks out Emerson with a fine pass but the full back is stretching and sends his effort way over the bar.

Odsonne Edouard with an equalizer after a poor mistake - West Ham 1-1 Crystal Palace (53rd minute)

Moments after he almost made it 1-1 but Ward-Prowse somehow deflected it clear, Edouard does make it 1-1. Mavropanos makes a huge error as he plays it straight to the Palace striker and he scuffs it home. A gift for the Eagles.

Half time: West Ham 1-0 Crystal Palace

A pretty poor first half but the Hammers are ahead and have shown that extra bit of quality in the final third. Palace have been woeful and hardly created any chances.

Mohammed Kudus puts the Hammers ahead as he continues his fine form - West Ham 1-0 Crystal Palace (13th minute)

Kudos to Kudus as he continues his fine recent form to put West Ham ahead. A ball to the right finds Coufal and his cutback finds Kudus who steers it home via a deflection. After his assists last week, Kudus is the main man for the Hammers once again.
