Weiss: A ‘potential Los Angeles deal still could be in play’ for Boston’s Malcolm Brogdon

Given all that has happened with his initial trade to the Los Angeles Clippers in the first iteration that brought Washington Wizards star center Kristaps Porzingis to the Boston Celtics in a three-team deal that ended up finalized with Marcus Smart heading to the Memphis Grizzlies instead, one would understandably be skeptical about rumors that Malcolm Brogdon could still end up getting sent to Los Angeles this offseason.

But that is what we are hearing from The Athletic NBA Insider Jared Weiss, who recently reported that “a potential Los Angeles deal still could be in play” for the 2023 Sixth Man of the Year.

“The Clippers have been looking for a new home for Marcus Morris — while Norman Powell has also come up in potential deals, according to league sources — but the Celtics would need a third team to take the player on,” relates The Athletic reporter.

“The Clippers are reportedly the front-runners to land James Harden, so that could hold up progress on a Brogdon deal,” he adds, tying the potential move to one of several guard-related trade logjams currently holding up several teams’ offseason plans.

Including, perhaps surprisingly, Boston’s.
