Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Long league winning streaks come to an end

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

BOYS BASKETBALL

  • Marcos Ramirez had 24 points, four assists and four steals and Nathaniel Gomez had 15 points and six rebounds but Oxnard had its 55-game league winning streak snapped with a 57-46 loss to Santa Barbara in a Channel League game. Luke Zuffelato scored 24 points to lead Santa Barbara. The Yellowjackets (20-5, 10-1) fell into a first-place tie with the Dons (18-7, 10-1) and suffered their first league loss since a home defeat to Ventura in January 2019. The league winning streak was the third longest in Ventura County boys basketball history and tied for the 10th longest in section history. Oxnard and Santa Barbara each have three games left in league play.

  • Jayden Iyer scored 21 points, Josh Ullegue had 15 points and four steals, and Wakine Molina added eight points and three steals to lead Buena (11-13, 5-6) to a 64-36 win over Pacifica (7-18, 0-11) in a Channel League game.

  • Rodney Adams Jr. scored 15 points, Jackson Knowles had 14 points and John Caleb Moreno added nine points to lead Rio Mesa (8-15, 4-7) to a 48-43 win over Ventura in a Channel League game. Caleb Sebek finished with a game-high 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds, Parsa Kamali had 11 points and three assists, Finn Fancher had eight points and three rebounds, and Travis Valenzuela had six points and three rebounds for the Cougars (8-14, 7-4).

  • Elias Chin finished with 27 points, seven assists and six rebounds, Trent MacLean had 21 points and six rebounds, Jacob Burton scored 11 points, Garrett Powell had seven points and five rebounds, and Noah Cotton added seven points as Thousand Oaks (20-5, 6-1) beat Oaks Christian 75-56 in a showdown of two of the top three teams in the Marmonte League. The Lancers are now tied for first place with Westlake, which they face Friday on the road. Troy McGovern scored 16 points and Stevie Prudholme and Lukas Lechau each had seven points for the Lions (15-10, 5-2), who dropped out of a tie for first in league.

  • Austin Maziasz finished with 22 points and eight rebounds, Kayden Elsokary had 16 points and four assists, Dante Deshautelle had 11 points and seven assists, and Danny Bao scored eight points as Westlake (20-5, 6-1) kept a share of first place in the Marmonte League with a 76-47 victory over Calabasas. Tidiane Sy scored 17 points and Dylan McCord had eight points for the Coyotes (15-9, 2-5).

  • DJ Jacob scored 12 points and Ethan Klopp and Mathis Simonet each had 10 points to lead Agoura (9-16, 2-5) to a 56-47 win over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League game. Blake Jones finished with a game-high 22 points and Mike Montero had nine points and 11 rebounds for the Panthers (12-13, 0-7).

  • Ryder Mjoen scored 25 points, Kyle Hoffer finished with 18 points and 10 rebounds, and Ryder Sharts had 10 points and seven rebounds as Simi Valley (16-10, 4-2) defeated Moorpark in a matchup of two of the four leaders in the Coastal Canyon League. The Pioneers are tied with Oak Park for first place, with Camarillo, which didn't play Wednesday, a half-game back. Tyson Howarth and Kian La each scored eight points and Drake Howarth had five points and six rebounds for the Musketeers (8-17, 3-3).

  • Seshsha Henderson scored 25 points and had three steals, Ade Daramola had 12 points and Jadon Holmes added six points and three blocks as Oak Park (16-9, 4-2) remained tied for first place in the Coastal Canyon League with a 63-39 win over Royal. Gavin Wright scored 12 points, Grayson Rothfield had seven points and Parker Hill had six points for the Highlanders (11-8, 0-5).

  • Sam Seiden had 18 points and nine assists, Dylan Benner scored 12 points, and Mathew Wilson finished with 10 points and seven rebounds to lead first-place St. Bonaventure (17-8, 5-0) to a 63-51 victory over Dunn in a Tri-Valley League game.

  • JD Pettit finished with 21 points, nine rebounds, two blocks and two steals, Mark Perez hit three 3-pointers for nine points, Adrian Jimenez had eight points, four assists and two steals, and Andy Pimental added six points, six rebounds and two blocks to lead Santa Clara (10-13) to a 55-42 win over Foothill Tech in a nonleague game. Nick Drucker scored 11 points and Ashton Brown had 10 points for the Dragons (11-12).

  • Caymen Wimmer had 14 points and six rebounds, Mason Stueber had 12 points and five rebounds, Carter Reid finished with 11 points and nine rebounds, Will Friel had 10 points and five rebounds, Alex Klemz scored nine points, and Tyler Pickett added eight points for Hillcrest Christian (16-7) in its 74-68 loss to Hart in a nonleague game.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

  • Devin Feiereisen scored 17 points, including a game-tying 3-pointer with 1:44 left in the fourth quarter, Mathis Dritz finished with 17 points, Taylor Swanson contributed 13 points, and Emma Ange added six points as Westlake (15-6, 7-0) earned a 57-55 win over Calabasas (9-12, 4-3) to clinch at least a share of the Marmonte League title.

  • Jaelah Brown finished with 13 points, 15 rebounds and three steals, Kira Jones had 12 points, 10 rebounds and five assists, and Jillian McGillivray added nine points to lead Thousand Oaks (11-13, 4-3) to a 55-54 win over Oaks Christian in a Marmonte League game. Bonita Liu scored 16 points, Presley Kushner had 12 points, Brooklyn Shamblin had 10 points, and Andrea Woodward added nine points for the Lions (7-16, 2-5).

  • Kierabella Coletta-Todd finished with 25 points, 12 rebounds and three steals, Greta Heath had 17 points, eight rebounds and two blocks, Kimiko Carmer had 12 points, seven steals and two blocks, and Skylar Komatsu had six points, eight steals and five assists to lead Newbury Park (21-4, 4-3) to a 65-6 win over Agoura in a Marmonte League game.

  • Aryanna Lopez finished with 17 points, six steals and two assists, Alyssa Garcia had 11 points, five assists and four steals, Angie Aguilera had eight points, five assists and five steals, Alyse Ramirez had eight points, four rebounds and three steals, Jalynn Rico had six points, seven assists and five steals, and Madilyn Stonebraker contributed six points, eight rebounds and five blocks to lead first-place Santa Paula (16-8, 9-0) to a 67-24 victory over Channel Islands in a Citrus Coast League game.

  • Charles Chowana and Tyler Cash each finished with a goal and an assist, Evan Ziglari and Carson Casella scored goals, and Tamir Ratoviz and Miles Johnson had assists to lead first-place Oak Park (11-1-1, 5-0-1) to a 4-0 victory over Royal (8-9-3, 1-3-1) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Sebi Alvarado, Andrew Menjivar, Brady Conyers and Jett Barrett scored goals to lift Moorpark (10-7-3, 4-1-1) to a 4-1 victory over Simi Valley (3-13-2, 0-5-1) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Uziel Diaz, Mikey Houghtaling, Gabriel Torreblanca, Zach Reer and Zaal Khairzad scored goals to lead first-place Thousand Oaks (10-7-2, 5-1-1) to a 5-0 victory over Oaks Christian (2-11-0, 0-7) in a Marmonte League match.

  • Jesse Davis scored two goals, Chris Lee and Kenner Aguilar had goals, Kevin Zendejas finished with two assists, and Harrison Novak had an assist to lead Agoura (8-4-3, 4-1-2) to a 4-1 victory over Newbury Park in a Marmonte League match. Brady Gabler scored a goal off an assist from Isaac Berini for the Panthers (8-8-2, 3-1-2).

  • Bobby Bagheri and Ricky Esparza scored goals for Westlake (9-4-3, 2-3-2) in its 2-2 draw with Calabasas (6-2-4, 2-2-3) in a Marmonte League match.

GIRLS SOCCER

  • Luchianna Shattuck scored the game's lone goal in the 38th minute as Thousand Oaks (9-1-3, 4-1-2) earned a 1-0 win over Oaks Christian (10-3-1, 5-1-1) to end the Lions' 21-match unbeaten streak in the Marmonte League. Oaks Christian, Westlake and Thousand Oaks are now all within a point in the league race.

  • Ava Bowers scored two goals, KK Chowana had a goal and an assist, Layla Simon had a goal, and Tahirih Vahdat, Grace Wetzel and Saylin Cutler had assists to lead Westlake (11-1-2, 5-1-1) to a 4-0 win over Calabasas (8-7-4, 0-6-1) in a Marmonte League match.

  • Gabby Jensen netted a hat trick, Mia Barkan scored a goal, and Zooey Staevski finished with two assists to lead Agoura (3-9-1, 2-4-1) to a 4-2 victory over Newbury Park (6-6-2, 1-4-2) in a Marmonte League match.

  • Ava Dermott converted a penalty kick and had two assists, and Jayden Bellemeur, Malea Johnson and Macie Baird scored goals to lead Oak Park (9-4-2, 4-2) to a 4-0 victory over Royal (4-11-2, 0-4-1) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

  • Naomi Tobias had two goals and an assist, Kamryn Beaver scored two goals, Linnea Peltonen finished with a goal and three assists, Payton Fraser and Anyssa Barrera had goals, and Zaina Barakat had an assist to lead Moorpark (7-5-1, 5-1) to an 8-1 win over Simi Valley (8-6-1, 0-4-1) in a Coastal Canyon League match.

GIRLS WATER POLO

  • Julia Kramer scored two goals on Senior Night as Calabasas defeated Moorpark 10-1.

  • Agoura defeated Westlake 11-8 in a Marmonte League game.
