Wednesday's Top Prep Performers: Another shutout for Camarillo baseball team

Highlights from Wednesday in high school sports:

BASEBALL

  • Braden Huber allowed two hits while striking out six in five scoreless innings, Jose Garcia and Josh Sloan each threw a scoreless inning, Tommy Goodin went 3 for 3 with a double, and Jordan Gutierrez was 1 for 3 with an RBI to lead Camarillo to a 1-0 win over Santa Paula. The Scorpions (4-2) have posted shutouts in all four of their wins. Angel Casimiro allowed four hits and a run in three innings and Colin Dominguez allowed three hits in three shutout innings for the Cardinals (2-5).

  • Luke Medhurst allowed four hits and no earned runs while striking out five in five innings and went 3 for 4 with two RBIs at the plate, Cade Flasken finished 3 for 4 with a triple and an RBI, Cole Munyon was 3 for 3 with two RBIs, Owen Meli was 2 for 3 with two RBIs, Nathaniel Nunez had a double and two RBIs, Cameron Fausset was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Tyler Field had a double to lead Newbury Park (3-3) to a 10-2 victory over Castaic.

  • Dylan Peters allowed three hits and struck out four in four scoreless innings, Landon Parada was 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Peyton Visage had a hit and two RBIs, Isaiah Tillman went 2 for 3 with a double and an RBI, Noah Vasquez was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Dylan Jones was 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Caden Salazar had a double and an RBI to lead Royal (8-1) to an 11-1 win over Channel Islands.

SOFTBALL

  • Savannah Mitchell pitched a six-inning shutout and had a hit and an RBI, Kirthi Paramasivan was 3 for 4 with two RBIs, Zoe Vanderbok went 2 for 4, Arika Innis and Riley Scupine each had a triple, Cameron McGugan was 1 for 4 with three RBIs, Avery Pryor was 1 for 3 with an RBI, Claire Broberg went 1 for 2 with an RBI, and Arika Innis was 1 for 3 to lead Oak Park to an 11-0 win over Taft.

BOYS SWIMMING

  • Hueneme defeated Fillmore 100-22 in a Citrus Coast League meet. For Hueneme, Jose Lopez won the 200 IM (2:51.88) and 500 freestyle (6:57.84). Eddie Contreras won the 100 butterfly (1:30.22). Miguel Rodriguez won the 100 freestyle (1:31.48). Bernabe Daza won the 100 backstroke (1:51.57). For Fillmore, Joaquin Holladay won the 200 freestyle (2:31.08). Ulysses Garcia won the 50 freestyle (28.44) and 100 breaststroke (1:29.00).

GIRLS SWIMMING

  • Fillmore defeated Hueneme 60-59 in a Citrus Coast League meet. For Fillmore, Lupita Heredia won the 50 freestyle (30.52) and 100 butterfly (1:37.79). Valeria Lira won the 100 freestyle (1:14.19). Ava Manzano won the 100 backstroke (2:04.50). Annalise Barragan won the 100 breaststroke (1:38.43). For Hueneme, Ami Cruz won the 200 freestyle (2:40.90) and 500 freestyle (7:23.14). Sage Velasquez won the 200 IM (3:25.77).
