Waverunners take second in OMSSL championships

GREENHILLS, Ohio — Recently, the Bohn Pool Waverunners completed their season at the Ohio Michigan Summer Swim League championships where the Waverunners finished second overall.

It was a tight meet with Bohn Pool scoring 2,124 points to host Greenhills' 2,190. Fallen Timbers took third (1,699) followed by Lincolnshire (311) and Bedford (155). Bohn Pool went 3-1 in the regular season.

"Overall it was a great meet," said coach Robert Petkus.

Leading the Waverunners was Owen Salenbien as he picked up three wins in the 11-12-year-old division as he took the 100-meter IM (1:25.46), 50 breaststroke (44.03) and 100 freestyle (1:14.66) while Gretchen Myers won a trio of events as well at 9-10 girls with the 100 IM (1:25.53), 50 backstroke (39.18) and 25 butterfly (16.37).

Hadyn Gould won a pair of events in the 15-18 boys 100 IM (1:04.10) and 50 backstroke (28.40) while Noah Judson took the 13-14 50 backstroke (34.10) and 100 freestyle (1:04.14). Genesis Branham won the girls 13-14 100 IM (1:20.02) and 50 butterfly (34.86).

Ian Baker added a pair in the 13-14 boys 50 freestyle (28.89) and 50 butterfly (31.53) while Santiago Bernal won the boys 11-12 50 backstroke (40.79) and 50 butterfly (40.20)

Ella Salenbien got a win in the girls 15-18 50 breaststroke (36.30) while Kade Opsal won the boys 15-18 50 freestyle (26.16) and Colin Krill won the boys 9-10 50 backstroke (46.37). Francis DeMeritt won the boys 9-10 25 breaststroke (22.64) while Mason Betz won the boys 9-10 50 freestyle (38.33).

Kennedy Stutzman had a record win in the girls 6-under 25 backstroke with a time of 25.12, breaking OMSSL championship meet mark.

"We are very thankful to Adrian Public School for letting the Waverunners practice in their pool after Bohn Pool had mechanical failures all season," Petkus said.
