CAPITALS VS. PANTHERS WHAT TO WATCH

From NBC Sports Washington's Matt Weyrich:

"The Capitals, who were officially eliminated from playoff contention Tuesday, have lost five straight games with a 7-15-3 overall record since the All-Star Break. They’ll take the day off Friday before hosting the Florida Panthers on Saturday night." Read more.

From NBC Sports Washington's Ethan Cadeaux:

"It's been one month since Sandin joined the Capitals. And, after being buried on Toronto's third defensive pairing for much of the season, the recently turned 23-year-old has taken on a larger role for his new club and impressed along the way." Read more.

CAPITALS VS. PANTHERS PLAYERS TO WATCH

Capitals: Conor Sheary, LW (78 games, 15 goals, 20 assists): Sheary is the only Capitals player this season to have suited up in all 78 games thus far. With three goals in his last seven games, Washington's ironman has found some offensive stride as the season comes to a close.

Panthers: Matthew Tkachuk, LW (75 games, 39 goals, 64 assists): One of the Panthers' big acquisitions last offseason, Matthew Tkachuk has fit right in with his new team. With just two more points in Florida's last five games, he'd eclipse his career high of 104 points set last season in Calgary.
