Heading into the 2021 NFL draft, many expected the Denver Broncos to target a quarterback at the No. 9 overall pick. Detractors sent plenty of criticism their way when they passed on Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields, but after watching Pat Surtain II’s rookie season, it’s safe to say they nailed the pick.

The son of a Pro Bowl corner by the same name, Surtain made an immediate impact for the Broncos, proving himself to be every bit the playmaker he was at Alabama. Surtain picked off four passes, returning one 70 yards for a touchdown, and registered 14 pass breakups.
