WATCH: Sixers star Ben Simmons drills corner 3-pointer vs. Magic

The one aspect surrounding the Philadelphia 76ers that has been talked about the most has been star guard Ben Simmons and his jump shot. He has yet to really show any confidence in taking open looks and it has been something that has been at the forefront of this team’s problems for a while.

He did make two 3-pointers in the 2019-20 season, but they were early in the season and he had not shown a willingness to shoot again as the season continued. The hope was that new coach Doc Rivers would unlock that aspect of his game, but he has not yet taken many shots outside the paint.

On Thursday against the Orlando Magic, Simmons got a screen from Danny Green, caught the ball confidently in the corner, and he drilled his third career 3-pointer. His shot gave Philadelphia a 12-9 lead in the first quarter at Amway Center.

The Magic are allowing up to 4,000 fans inside their arena and there are a small contingent of Sixers fans who let their appreciation for Simmons be known. Now, if only he can build off this for the rest of the season and his career.
