WATCH: Jackson Shelstad celebrated by Duck teammates after overtime game-winner

Before his career as an Oregon Duck even started, there were some high expectations for true freshman Jackson Shelstad.

Hailing from West Linn High School up in Portland — the same as Oregon legend Payton Pritchard — it was said that the 5-star point guard was expected to be a 2.0 version of the dynamic facilitator who holds the school record for career assists while sitting 4th on the Oregon scoring list, and second on the Oregon steals list.

After just one career game at Matthew Knight Arena, Shelstad is already living up to the hype. In Oregon’s marquee non-conference game against the Michigan Wolverines on Saturday, Shelstad finished with 14 points but brought the house down with a deep three-pointer in overtime to win the game for the Ducks with just over a second remaining on the clock.

It’s a big symbiotic, as Pritchard hit a big shot against Michigan back in 2019 in overtime to beat the Wolverines in overtime as well.

After the game, Shelstad was hounded by teammates in the locker room, who doused him in water celebrating the big moment. Here is that, followed by some reaction from fans on social media throughout the day:
