Warriors win title, Winnacunnet's Duffy named top boy at Seacoast Track Championship
EXETER - The Seacoast Track Championship boys trophy is heading back to Hampton for the first time since 2018.
Winnacunnet High School senior Oliver Duffy won three events and was named Male Track Athlete of the Meet as the Warriors scored 99 points and beat the 13-team field on Friday at Exeter High School.
"(I thought I did) pretty good," Duffy said. "I was hoping to place a little higher in the 200 (sixth), but I was just trying to come out here and hold my number one spot."
Duffy won the 110-meter hurdles (15.04 seconds), the 300-meter hurdles (23.38) and the long jump (21 feet, 06 inches), and teammate Owen Janetos won the 400 (51.61) and was second in the 100 (11.28).
"I didn't really have a strategy, I was just trying to match the speed next to me and go along with him," Janetos said of his races. "And then last stretch, just go fast."
Coe-Brown placed second with 81 points, while Exeter (78) was third, Portsmouth (71) was fourth and Oyster River (52) was fifth.
"I work with a lot of the boys and the best part is seeing these seniors develop over four years and come out (with the win)," Winnacunnet coach Alison Duffy said. "This is a great championship for them."
Winnacunnet won two more events as Ryan Zumbach placed first in the 1,600 (4:27.63) and Wyatt Patterson was first in the pole vault (13-7).
Other top-five performances from Winnacunnet were turned in by Owen Denio (third, javelin, 141-5), Brady Cochran (fourth, 200, 23.05), Erik Marelli (fourth, 110 hurdles, 15.87), and Ryan Jamison (fourth, 300 hurdles, 41.52). Also, Winnacunnet's quartet of Brody Champney, Merrick Germain, Mattius Germain and Zane Lepere placed third in the 4x800-meter relay (9:03.23)

Exeter won two events - Nathan Mikulsky was first in the 800 (1:57.25), and the 4x400-meter relay, consisting of Jack Fabiano, Brodie Proulx, Mikulsky, and Gavin Malark, won in a time of 3:31.59.
Other top-five performances by Exeter were turned in by Malark (second, 1,600, 4:31.08), Wally Dangora (second, 3,200, 10:23.47), Erik Menger (second, shot put, 43-11.5), Thoren Kersten-Guiler (third, triple jump, 40-07.5), Proulx (fourth, 400, 53.14), Brady Rogers (fourth, high jump, 5-09), Kenji Chase (fourth, javelin, 136-03), Marcus Clark (fifth, 3,200, 10:30.11), Spencer Mann (fifth, 1,600, 4:35.98) and Thomas Eastwood (fifth, pole vault).
Additionally, the 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Gavyn Daley, Phineas Reardon, Jack Kavanagh and Kersten-Guiler, was fifth (45.56), and the 4x800, comprised of Davis Long, Teddy Bleicken, Ian Cottrill and Andrew Allen, was fifth (9:23.22).
Multiple top-five finishes
Portsmouth's Briggs Catino was second in the 200 (22.84) and third in the 100 (11.30), Portsmouth's Josh Kelly was second in the 110 hurdles (15.56) and fifth in the 300 hurdles (42.97), Portsmouth Christian Academy's Tim Kelm won the 100 (11.20) and was second in the 200 (22.79), Spaulding's Matthew Scamman was second in the 300 hurdles (41.13) and third in the 110 hurdles (15.77), and Oyster River's Talon Ouellette was fifth in both the 100 (11.40) and 200 (23.24).
Portsmouth's other top performers
Portsmouth had several competitors place in the top five, including Theo Beattie (second, 400, 52.19), Leo Guarracino (second, pole vault, 12-01), Kelly Moriarty (third, pole vault, 11-01),Dom Buono (third, long jump, 20-02.25), Nolan Peters (fourth, 1,600, 4:33.29), Ben Bloom (fifth, high jump, 5-09) and Declan Nuchow-Hartzell (fifth, shot put, 37-10).
Additionally, Portsmouth's 4x400 relay team, consisting of Nico Ranalli, WIll Hart, Catino, and Beattie, was third (3:33.57), and the 4x800 team of Luke Boynton, Ollie Fitzpatrick, Tate Johnson and Logan Chasse was fourth (9:20.32).
Other top-five performances
Those who turned in top-five performances included Somersworth's Tayshawn Sheppard (first, triple jump, 41-4.75), Somersworth's Seth Worell (first, javelin, 159-5), Portsmouth Christian Academy's Jonas Teeter (third, 800, 1:59.38), Oyster River's Joe Hannon (third, 3,200, 10:27.61), Dover's Clayton Johnson (fourth, 800, 2:00.56), and St. Thomas Aquinas' Oliver Schartner (fourth, 3,200, 10:28.53).
Other relays
Oyster River's 4x100 team of Colby Gedney, Max Scopel, Casey Pirtle, Ouellette was first (44.17), Dover's 4x800 team of Melo Berdecia, Clayton Johnson, Ethan Proto and Ethan Fiorenza placed first (8:47.80), Spaulding's 4x100 relay team of Isiah Walker, Ethan Hayes, Scamman, and Paul Butler was fourth (44.76), and Oyster River's 4x400 squad of Gedney, Scopel, Mitchell Keesee and Ouellette placed fourth (3:38.39).
