Walks an issue in Texas Tech baseball team's Big 12 Tournament loss to Oklahoma State

The Texas Tech baseball pitching staff issued four walks and threw a wild pitch in what wound up being a three-run seventh inning to swing the second-round Big 12 Tournament game in Oklahoma State's favor on Wednesday night at Globe Life Field in Arlington.

The Red Raiders struck out 14 times in the game while the pitchers issued 13 walks and threw two wild pitches in the 7-2 loss to second-seeded Oklahoma State.

The Red Raiders (32-25) moved to 1-1 in tournament play following Tuesday's victory over Texas. They will face Cincinnati at 4 p.m. Thursday in an elimination game. The Bearcats knocked the Longhorns out of the tournament earlier Wednesday.

Gavin Kash hit a two-run home run in the top of the seventh inning to trim the deficit to 4-2. Three different pitchers were used by Tech in the bottom of the frame. Carson Baugh walked the first two batters. Derek Bridges got his one batter out with a strikeout then Cole Kaase walked the next two batters and threw the ball by catcher Gavin Kash to seal the setback.

Oklahoma State's runs came on three bases-loaded walks, a pair of wild pitches and a two-run home run by Zach Ehrhard in the bottom of the first.

The Red Raiders have lost 12 of their last 15 games.

Drew Woodcox struck out three times with TJ Pompey and Cade McGee having two punch-outs apiece.

Zach Erdman had a decent night on the mound. He scattered six hits, three runs, three walks and four strikeouts in four innings of work. Tech used eight pitchers in the game, three of them facing just one batter each.
