Votes are in: Patriot Ledger/Enterprise's Baseball Preseason Player of the Year

There was an impressive showing of support for the 37 nominees in our baseball Preseason Player of the Year poll recently, and the final results are in.

Southeastern Regional's Nick Arsenault collected almost 31,000 votes to receive the honor. His total accounted for 28.4 percent of the 103,983 votes cast overall.

The senior first baseman is a two-year captain. He bats cleanup and is strong defensively. Coach Eric Belton noted that Arsenault led Southeastern in batting average (.392), on-base percentage and hits last season.

Stoughton senior pitcher/infielder Hunter Malkin (22,138 votes) came in second in the poll, and Pembroke senior catcher/first baseman Aidan Sullivan finished third (13,216 votes).

Also receiving a significant total: Brockton's Armani LoRusso (8,069 votes), Cardinal Spellman's Michael Boutiette (6,385 votes), East Bridgewater's Jaden Lovell (4,918 votes), South Shore Tech's Riley Siereveld (3,962 votes), Rockland's Shawn Boostrom (2,558 votes) and Abington's John Sellon (2,267 votes).
