According to the readers of the Enquirer, the B.O.B. — the Best Of Battle Creek among catchers — is Brock Butler of Homer in baseball and Faith Hewkin of Lakeview in softball. James Shelton of Battle Creek Central and Grace Paul of Athens were each second in their respective sports.

Class: Sophomore

Why he is the 1B/3B in the Battle Creek area: A great leader with a high baseball IQ, Brock Butler is hitting in the middle of the Homer lineup and is among the top offensive producers for the Trojans as a sophomore. Playing first base, Butler is hitting .393 with a .533 on-base percentage.

School: Lakeview

Class: Senior

Why she is the best 1B/3B in the Battle Creek area: A four-year starter and former All-City selection, Faith Hewkin is having a big senior season with a .453 batting average and a 1.22 OPS with three home runs, 29 RBI and 27 runs scored. With a big arm and a quick release, she is a force at third base on defense as well and will play at Calvin College next year.
