North Brunswick's Malakhi Daniels named midseason basketball player of the year

Bringing in 48% of the fan vote, North Brunswick basketball's Malakhi Daniels is the Fan's Choice Midseason Boys Player of the Year.

Daniels, whose 14 points per game is third-best in the Mideastern Conference, posted a season-high 26 points in the Scorpion's win over Trask on Dec. 8.

North Brunswick currently sits fourth in the MEC with key conference matchups with Ashley and Laney coming in the next week.

Voting for the Midseason Player of the Year concluded Thursday night with more than 8,000 votes. Find a complete list of nominees below.

Aidan Davies, Sr., Coastal Christian: The senior leads all area scorers (21.2 ppg) through 16 games this winter.

Hezron Driver, Sr., Laney: Driver leads all Bucaaners players with 112 points through 12 games.

K'Veon Griffin, Soph., West Brunswick: The senior has averaged 11 points per game through 8 contests.

Jaylen Herring, Sr., Hoggard: Herring leads the Vikings this winter, averaging 11.2 points per game.

Jealon Johnson, Sr., South Brunswick: Johnson has averaged 12.3 points per game this season.

Landon Kaiser, Sr., Topsail: The senior leads all Pirates scorers with 112 points (11.2 ppg).

Coen Locklear, Sr., Ashley: Locklear ranks second in the MEC in points (175) through 12 games this winter.

Myron McKoy, Sr., Trask: McKoy leads the Titans with a Waccmaw Conference-best 18.6 points per game.

Cyrus Page, Sr., Pender: Scoring 13.6 points per game, Page leads the Patriots and is third in the Waccamaw Conference.

Angelo Vega, Sr., Cape Fear Academy: The senior leads the Hurricanes in points, averaging 9.3 through 13 games.
