Clear Spring's Konnor Sarber and Grace Shoemaker voted Athletes of the Week

Clear Spring's Konnor Sarber and Grace Shoemaker were voted The Herald-Mail’s Washington County Athletes of the Week for May 6-11.

The voting was conducted online Monday afternoon through noon Wednesday.

Sarber, a senior baseball player, earned the boys honor with 37.1% of the vote (187 votes). He had two hits, including a home run, and four RBIs in a win over Smithsburg in the 1A West Region II semifinals.

Shoemaker, a senior softball player, was the girls winner with 43.58% of the vote (214 votes). She went 2-for-3 with two walks, three stolen bases, two runs scored and an RBI, and she pitched a complete game in the Blazers' 1A West Region II quarterfinal win over Hancock.

The other girls nominees were Smithsburg's Taylor King (track) and North Hagerstown's Rian Johnson (track).

The other boys nominees were North's Luke Bragunier (baseball) and South Hagerstown's Deontae Blake (track).
