Vote for the Storm Works Roofing High School Boys Athlete of the Week for Sept. 23-29

Bishop Stang’s Spencer Menard was voted the Storm Works & Roofing High School Boys Athlete of the Week for Sept. 16-22. He received more than 4,000 votes (57%) to earn the honor.

Menard notched a combined four goals and one assist in a pair of wins for Bishop Stang.

Previous winners were GNB Voc-Tech’s Reinaldo Trinidad and Bishop Stang’s Donovan Boyle.

GOLF

Cam Poirier, Apponequet

In three matches, Poirier carded a 39, 41 and 43 to power Apponequet to a 2-1 record.

Matt Costello, Bishop Stang

Costello was the low medalist of the Cape Cod National High School Invitational Golf Tournament with a 1-over par 73 and won the individual award. He also was the low medalist (3-under par 33) for the Spartans in a win over Cardinal Spellman and tied for low-medalist honors (37) in a victory over Old Rochester.

Matt Oliveira, Bishop Stang

In three matches, Oliveira carded 1-under par 35, even par 36 and 1-over par 37 to help the undefeated Spartans capture three straight wins.

Tom Moreira, Dartmouth

Moreira shot a 38 and 40 for Dartmouth against Durfee and Bridgewater, respectively.

Calvin Downing, Fairhaven

Downing shot an even par 34 at Rochester Golf Club to power Fairhaven to a win over Case. He also shot a 39 against Voc-Tech and a 42 against Bourne.

Talan Allain, GNB Voc-Tech

Allain shot a 38 to power the Bears to a win over Somerset Berkley.

Andrew McCarey, Old Colony

McCarey won his match against Tri-County and tied his match against Bristol-Plymouth.

Peter le Gassick, Old Rochester

In a loss to Bishop Stang, le Gassick shot a 2-over par 38.

BOYS SOCCER

Josh Snyder, Apponequet

In a loss to Dartmouth, Snyder had 19 saves. Against GNB Voc-Tech, Snyder had 17 saves.

Eamon Martin, Bishop Stang

Martin scored both of Stang’s goals in a 2-0 win over Archbishop Williams.

Logan Stott, Bishop Stang

Stott had one goal and one assist for Stang in a 4-0 win over Arlington Catholic.

Landon Raposa, Dartmouth

Raposa recorded a hat trick in Dartmouth’s 4-0 win over Apponequet.

Claudio Ramos, GNB Voc-Tech

Ramos had a hand in two of GNB Voc-Tech’s three goals against Apponequet, scoring one and assisting on another.

BOYS SOCCER: New Bedford fails to finish in Southeast Conference loss to Brockton

Nick Rosa, New Bedford

Rosa had the lone goal for the Whalers in a 1-1 tie with Nauset.

Noah Pimentel, Old Colony

Pimentel scored the lone goal for the Cougars in a 1-0 win over Upper Cape.

Landon Hunter, Old Colony

Hunter had two goals and three assists in a 7-0 win over Norfolk Aggie.

Emile Joseph, Old Rochester

Joseph had four saves to earn the shutout against Case.

Cole Berriault, Wareham

Berriault had two goals for Wareham in a 4-3 win over Bristol-Aggie.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

Lowell Copps, Bishop Stang

Copps ran a team-best 18:25 to power the Spartans to a win over Cardinal Spellman.

Elaijah Monteiro, Dartmouth

Monteiro ran a first-place time of 17:41 to pace Dartmouth in a win over Durfee.

Tyler Young, Old Rochester

Young ran a 16:30 to place eighth in the Bay State Invite Small School varsity race out of 297 runners.
