Vote for the SouthCoast High School Softball Player of the Week for May 13-19
The winner of last week’s Softball Player of the Week poll was Dartmouth’s Paige Martins. She had more than 27,000 votes (45%) to receive the honor. Wareham’s Madison Nereu was second (44%).
Martins went 3-for-6 with three RBIs in a 12-inning loss to Bridgewater-Raynham.
Previous winners were Fairhaven’s Stella Zangao, Dartmouth’s Paige Martins and Wareham’s Jolee Anderson and Samantha Purcell. The winner of the Preseason Softball Player of the Year poll was New Bedford’s Hayleigh Chenard.

VOTE: Baseball Player of the Week for May 13-19
Lauren Bernaiche, Apponequet
Bernaiche pitched the Lakers to win over Fairhaven and Old Rochester and a one-run loss to Dighton-Rehoboth. In three games, she had a combined 34 strikeouts while allowing a combined five earned runs. At the plate, she had a combined six hits, five RBIs and five runs scored.
Arianna Camara, Apponequet
In a win over Fairhaven, Camara went 4-for-5 with a walk, three RBIs and two runs scored. She also had a triple, RBI and run scored against Old Rochester.
Christina Magnett, Apponequet
In games against Fairhaven and Dighton-Rehoboth, Magnet went a combined 6-for-8 with two walks, six runs scored and two RBIs.
Morgan Saraceno, Apponequet
In games against Fairhaven and D-R, Saraceno went a combined 6-for-11 with an RBI and three runs scored.
Alaina Chasse, Bishop Stang
In a win over Bourne, Chasse pitched seven innings, allowing no earned runs with five strikeouts.
Katie Manzone, Bishop Stang
In two games, Manzone went a combined 4-for-6 with a home run, four runs scored and six RBIs.
Megan Arruda, Dartmouth
Against Brockton, Arruda went four innings, allowing no hits with one walk while striking out eight.
Abby Lancaster, Dartmouth
Lancaster had two hits and three RBIs against Brockton.
Olivia Rapoza, Dartmouth
Rapoza had two hits and four RBIs in a win over Brockton.
Aylin Haworth, Fairhaven
In two games, Haworth had three hits, including a three-RBI triple against Apponequet. She also drove in a run against Seekonk.
Sydney Merusi, Fairhaven
Merusi went 3-for-3 with a triple and two doubles in a loss to Seekonk.

Zoe Teixeira, GNB Voc-Tech
In a pair of games, Teixeira had a combined four hits, including a home run against Bourne. She also had four RBIs and a run scored against Southeastern.
Ana Tsonis, GNB Voc-Tech
Tsonis had a combined 12 strikeouts in a pair of games against Southeastern and Dighton-Rehoboth.
Hayleigh Chenard, New Bedford
Chenard pitched a two-hitter with one walk and five strikeouts against Bridgewater-Raynham.
Annabelle Huston, New Bedford
In a loss to Milton, Huston had two hits and an RBI.
Ivy Mattos, New Bedford
Mattos had three hits against Somerset Berkley.
Sharon Delancey, Old Colony
Not only did Delancey pitch the Cougars to a win over Blue Hills, allowing five earned runs on eight hits with four strikeouts, she had a combined three hits and four RBIs in a pair of games against Tri-County and Blue Hills.
Kayleigh DeSousa, Old Colony
DeSousa had a pair of hits, four walks, four RBIs and seven runs scored in a pair of games against Blue Hills and Bristol-Plymouth.
Patty Spillane, Old Colony
In three games, Spillane went a combined 4-for-8 with seven RBIs and two runs scored.
Tara Goldman, Old Rochester
Against Somerset Berkley, Goldman had 13 strikeouts, including the 100th of the season.
Jossalyn Anctil, Wareham
In three games, Anctil went a combined 7-for-12 with 10 runs scored and five RBIs.
Olivia LaCava, Wareham
LaCava went a combined 7-for-13 with nine RBIs and five runs scored in three games.
Madison Nereu, Wareham
In three games, Nereu had a combined 21 strikeouts while going 6-for-8 with a home run, three RBIs and four runs scored against Upper Cape and St. John Paul II. She also scored two runs against Nauset.
