VOTE: Route 30 Athlete of the Week

In collaboration with the Mansfield News Journal, Bucyrus Telegraph-Forum, Ashland Times-Gazette and Wooster Daily Record, a new and interactive athlete of the week poll has been created.

Athletes from the four newspaper coverage areas will be nominated and you can vote on who you believe is the Route 30 Athlete of the Week.

First, we start with the Route 30 Athlete of the Week. Here are your nominees.

*Colonel Crawford’s Cecelia Chase shattered her own school record by nearly 30 seconds winning the Kip Kinn Invitational with a time of 18:06.38.

*Galion’s Nathan McMullen was medalist at the Jim Denos Invitational at Eagle Creek Golf Club firing a 2-under 69, his round featured six birdies and an eagle.

*Luke Snyder, Rittman boys XC: With a 15:49.70 at the Keystone Icebreaker and 16:23.77 in less-than-ideal conditions at the Riverside Kickoff, Snyder finished well ahead of all competition for two first-place finishes in two invitationals featuring 200-plus fields.

*Haley Yoder, Hiland volleyball: Hiland went 3-0 with Yoder playing dominant offense and defense, averaging 18 kills over those wins and recording her 1,000th career dig in the Hawks' win over John Glenn.

*Kade Tegtmeier, Northwestern boys XC: Set a new personal record at the Gideon's Run Invitational, running a 16:26.01 to record the second-fastest XC time in school history.

*Naomi Keib, Smithville: Reeled off games of 18, 17 and 21 kills in Smithville's convincing wins over Massillon Perry, Loudonville and Mineral Ridge as the Smithies improved to 4-0.

*Ashland girls tennis player Chloe Ediger won her singles match 6-4, 6-1 against New Philadelphia, as she helped the Arrows improve to 3-0 on the season.

*Shelby’s Baylie Hoffbauer had 42 assists in a 3-0 volleyball win over Wynford and 37 more in a 3-1 win over Marion Harding.

*Crestview’s Leyna Gerich won the Richland County Cross Country Meet with a time of 20:47.4 to bring home the individual title.

*Crestview’s Cooper Brockway won the Richland County Cross Country Meet with a time of 16:59.1 to bring home the individual title.

*Ontario’s Addie Pittman had two goals in a 2-2 soccer tie against Division I New Albany and two more goals in a 4-1 win over St. Marys Memorial.

*Lexington’s Jack Hiebel scored five goals in two nights with three in a win over West Holmes and two more in a victory over Clear Fork.

Voting ends at 7 p.m. on Friday and winners will be announced on Saturday.
