Vote for the Oklahoma City-area girls high school athletes, team of the week

The Oklahoman's girls winter sport athletes of the week poll for Feb. 20-26 presented by Landmark Fine Homes is now live at oklahoman.com.

The Oklahoman is also conducting polls for a girls team of the week.

Voting is open until noon Sunday. You don't have to be a subscriber to vote, and you can cast one vote every hour, per device.

The winners of last week's girls polls were John Marshall's Jayla Lawson (basketball), Edmond North's Kelsey Healy (swimming) and Harrah's Addie Morse (wrestling). The winner for the girls team of the week was El Reno basketball.

Girls teams of the week

Douglass basketball: No. 16 Douglass upset third-ranked Glenpool, 57-50, to win a regional title in Class 4A. The Trojans haven’t lost a game since Jan. 5.

Little Axe wrestling: The Indians claimed the school’s first state wrestling title, winning in Class 5A. Little Axe had 84 points as it finished ahead of Cache and Harrah, which tied for second place with 76.

Tuttle basketball: Tuttle carries an eight-game win streak into the Class 4A area tournament. The Tigers secured their regional title with a 49-30 victory over Plainview.

Washington basketball: The top-ranked Class 3A Warriors are rolling into their area tournament after defeating No. 17 Sequoyah Tahlequah, 65-45, in the regional championship.

Girls basketball

Rylee Buck, Jr., Dover: With Buck as a leader, Dover is in the Class B state tournament for the first time since 2007. She has averaged 16 points per game while making 41% of her 3-point attempts through four playoff games.

Seleh Harmon, Jr., Norman North: In only her second game back from a pulled hamstring, Harmon led the Timberwolves with 31 points in a 72-70 triple-overtime victory against crosstown rival Norman. She also added six assists and six rebounds.

Nevaeh Sanchez, Sr., Putnam North: Sanchez stuffed the stat sheets as Putnam North won a Class 6A regional title. She had 19 points, three rebounds, six assists and seven steals against Lawton. Then she added 10 points, three rebounds, two assists and four steals against Norman North to advance to area.

Shelby Thornton, Jr., Del City: Thornton posted a double double in the Eagles’ triple-overtime regional victory against Guthrie. She totaled 16 points, 22 rebounds and three blocks as Del City won 61-57. Thornton then had eight rebounds against Carl Albert and seven against Elgin as the Eagles secured a spot in the Class 5A West area tournament.

Zya Vann, Sr., Bethany: As Bethany won a regional title, Vann surpassed Logan Martin’s school record of 1,687 career points, which stood for 16 years. A finalist for this year’s McDonald’s All American team, Vann recorded 18 points in the Class 4A top-ranked Bronchos’ 101-34 rout of Elk City on Thursday.

Wrestling

Alexis Ahtone, Sr., Putnam City: She shined in the final state tournament of her high school career, winning the Class 6A championship at 130 pounds Saturday.

Kaylee Davis, Sr., El Reno: Davis won the Class 6A 145-pound title, becoming a three-time state champion.

Shelby Kemp, Sr., Moore: Kemp, who competed in Class 6A, claimed her second straight title at 135 pounds. She had an impressive win in the finals as she pinned Blanchard's Lynn Horn, who entered the match with a 29-0 record for her junior season.

Kyrain Perez, So., Westmoore: She capped a stellar season by winning the Class 6A championship at 100 pounds. Perez beat Moore’s Kylee Smith in a 4-2 decision in the finals.

Coty Sessions, Jr., Norman North: She claimed the Class 6A 110-pound title and finished 35-1 on the season.

Bella Williams, Jr., Edmond North: She won the Class 6A 140-pound title and remains undefeated as a Husky. Williams went 34-0 this season.
