It is time to vote for the boy and girl athlete of the week from the Tuscaloosa area for the week of March 4-8.

Tuscaloosa County's Karlie Beth Beasley won the girls vote with 39% of votes while Central's Armani White won the boys vote with 46% of votes. Nominees for athlete of the week come from the top performers from the week before. Voting will remain open until Thursday at noon.

Tuscaloosa area boys athlete of the week nominations

  • Reid Bankston, Northridge tennis, defeated Hueytown's Jordan Neely in line one singles 8-4 in a 7-0 team win over Hueytown.

  • Kahden Smith, Hillcrest baseball, went 3-for-3 from the plate in a 10-0 win over Sipsey Valley, recording two doubles and a single.

  • Anton Schmidt, Tuscaloosa Academy soccer, scored three goals in a 7-1 win over Hillcrest.

  • Roberto Mendez, Tuscaloosa County tennis, defeated Thompson's Kai Brasfield in line one singles by a score of 8-4 in a team win of 6-0 over Thompson.

  • Seth Gear, Northside soccer, recorded 11 saves in goal in a 3-2 loss to Montevallo.

Tuscaloosa area girls athlete of the week nominations

  • Tootsie Burchfield, Tuscaloosa Academy soccer, scored the winning goal in a 1-0 win over Westminster School.

  • Cassie Clement, Northridge tennis, defeated Hueytown's Jada Allen in line one singles 8-1 in a 9-0 team win over Hueytown.

  • Addison Golden, ACA soccer, scored five goals and contributed an assist in a 7-0 win over Holt.

  • Shayla May, Brookwood soccer, scored four goals in a 5-1 area win over Bessemer City.

  • Kaylee Dunn, Tuscaloosa County softball, went 3-for-3 from the plate with one home run and two RBIs in a 7-0 win over Brookwood.
