Vote now: Who is The Star Press' IU Health Athlete of the Week for April 22-27?

It's time again to vote for The Star Press East Central Indiana high school Athlete of the Week sponsored by IU Health.

The reigning Athlete of the Week is Kayla Porter of Daleville girls track and field after she received 37,281 votes (52.23%) last week. Placing second with more than 24,000 votes were Meryck Adams and Bryson Sigler of Daleville baseball.

This week brings us more nominees for Athlete of the Week for April 22-27. Please submit nominees via email to clindskog@gannett.com so they can be included in next week's poll.

Voting will remain open below until Friday at noon.

  • Drew Fredenburg, Shenandoah baseball: The sophomore went 6 for 13 at the plate for a .462 average as he homered, drove in six RBIs and scored six runs. He also struck out five in five innings on the mound.

  • Carter Campbell, Winchester boys track and field: The sophomore won four individual events at the Nights Invitational last Friday, placing first in the 110 hurdles, the 100 dash, the 300 hurdles, and the 200 dash. He scored 40 team points.

  • Kayla Porter, Daleville girls track and field: The reigning Athlete of the Week broke her own program record in discus from 104 feet, 7 inches to a new school record of 105 feet, 11 inches.

  • Nate Luce, Wapahani baseball: The junior went 9 for 22 at the plate with five runs scored while also picking up the win on Saturday with four scoreless innings and four strikeouts on the mound. He's batting .447 on the season.

  • Zoey Koger, Wapahani softball: The sophomore tossed 16 1/3 innings last week as she struck out 11 batters and picked up a victory. She also went 7 for 14 at the plate with a RBI and five runs scored.
