Vote now: Who should be the Rockford Register Star's Athlete of the Week for April 15-20?

The spring seasons are already barrelling toward their postseasons, but there is still some regular season left to play, and plenty of conference titles to be had. With that comes a lot of stars stepping up, so there is a lot to choose from on the Rockford Register Star high school Athlete of the Week poll for April 15-20.

The voting at rrstar.com ends at noon on Friday. You can email Jay Taft at jtaft@rrstar.com by 9 a.m. each Monday to submit a potential nominee who can be placed on the ballot.

Rockford-area softball: Harlem, North Boone softball show off strongest batteries midway through season

Adams, Harlem's No. 2 pitcher and first baseman, earned a win on the mound and had multiple hits in two games.

Addison Adler, Stillman Valley softball

Adler, a sophomore second baseman, hit .500 (6-for-12) last week as the Cardinals powered past three BNC foes. She hit back-to-back home runs in back-to-back at-bats against Genoa-Kingston, and his hitting .443 for the season.

Carlos Delavin and Diego Robles Sanchez, Freeport tennis

Delavin and Robles Sanchez pulled out a 6-4, 7-5 win at No. 2 doubles that lifted Freeport to a 3-2 victory over defending NIC-10 champion Hononegah in a conference showdown.

Jackson Heidemann, Harlem baseball

Heidemann, a sophomore right-hander, allowed only two hits and struck out eight in a 3-0 victory at Freeport, one game after the Pretzels scored 22 runs against Harlem. The win helped Harlem (5-1 NIC-10) stay within one game of first place in the conference.

Cole Huber, Eastland baseball

Eastland’s catcher went 3-for-4 with 4 RBIs and five total bases in a 14-6 win over Amboy.

Alex Schoonhoven, Forreston baseball

Schoonhoven went 2-for-3 with 3 RBIs, 3 runs scored and a stolen base in Forreston’s 11-2 win over Winnebago.

Cheyenna Wilkins, Polo softball

Wilkins, the leadoff hitter for Polo, went 6-for-9 at the plate with four RBIs and three runs scored during Polo's doubleheader sweep of A-FC. She had three singles, two doubles and a triple, which gave her a slugging percentage of 1.111.

Kaelyn Williams, Stillman Valley softball

Williams, a senior pitcher, went 3-0 last week on the mound, all Big Northern Conference wins that kept Stillman Valley (4-6, 6-0 BNC) on track for a conference title. She had 27 strikeouts in 19 innings pitched to bring her season total to 137 Ks. On offense, she hit .545 last week.
