Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week: Lincoln's Donez Lindsey

The 209 community voted and the Martin Dentistry Athlete of the Week for the week of Jan. 15-21 is Donez Lindsey of Lincoln boys' basketball. In an online poll that closed on Friday, Lindsey received a little over 97% of votes cast for a total of 3,223 votes.

Lindsey has been a rising star for the Trojans since Tri-City Athletic League play started. The 5-foot-10 guard really shined once crosstown rivals St. Mary's came up on Lincoln's schedule. He led his team offensively scoring 16 points and shooting 100% from beyond the arc. Lindsey was the driving force behind his team's 53-38 victory over the Rams.

With Lindesy and a host of other key contributors, the Trojans have earned a No. 4 ranking in the Sac-Joaquin Section and second place in the TCAL behind Modesto Christian. So far the junior guard is averaging a team-high 3.2 assists per game while also finding his scoring rhythm averaging 10.4 points per game. Lincoln will need him to continue to shine while it tackles the second half of league play.
