Results: North Jersey Hockey 3 Stars of the Week for Jan. 2-7

After four days of voting, Montclair junior forward Anders Jenkings, West Milford/Pequannock/Pompton Lakes freshman defenseman Sean Hughes and Northern Highlands junior forward Jake Baratta were selected as the North Jersey Hockey 3 Stars of the Week.

The Mounties have an undefeated streak to begin the new year with Jenkins scoring a goal in all three wins this week. Jenkins had a goal and an assist in a 4-1 win over Scotch Plains-Fanwood on Tuesday, as well as during a 7-4 win over Frisch a day later. On Friday, Jenkins added another goal in a 3-1 win over Old Bridge.

Hughes has strengthened the West Milford tri-op in his freshman season, boosting them to the top seed in the upcoming Passaic County tournament. Hughes had two goals and an assist in a 4-2 win over Passaic Tech on Friday. Hughes also added a goal in a 4-0 win over Mahwah on Sunday.

Baratta bolstered his placement as the leading scorer for the Highlanders with a pair of hat tricks. Baratta scored three times, including the go-ahead tally, in a 6-3 win over Middletown North on Tuesday. On Thursday, Baratta's three goals and two assists powered Northern Highlands to a 7-3 win over Pascack Valley-Pascack Hills-Park Ridge.

George Cote

Delbarton junior goalie

Cote earned his first varsity shutout at an ideal time, stopping all 24 shots he faced in a 5-0 win over St. Augustine on Thursday. Cote fended off shots in his sixth career start, a rematch of last year's Non-Public state final.

Finn Doherty

Ridgewood junior defenseman

Doherty has reached a new career high in points after five points this week. Doherty played a role in all four goals on Friday, earning two goals and two assists in a 4-1 win over Paramus-Lyndhurst. On Sunday, Doherty's second period goal against Wayne guided the Maroons to a 2-1 win.

Dillon Gagliardi

Chatham senior defenseman

Gagliardi came through with a goal and an assist in a 7-2 win over Mount Olive-Hopatcong-Hackettstown during Saturday's senior day celebration. Rarely on the score sheet during his time with the Cougars, Gagliardi has seven points this season, matching his career total entering this winter.

Andrew George

Randolph junior forward

George scored all three goals for the Rams in a 3-1 win over Morristown Beard on Wednesday. George also added a goal and had two assists in a 9-0 win over Summit on Friday. With a six-point week, George earned his 60th career point for unbeaten Randolph.

Mason Parisi

Glen Rock junior forward

Parisi began the new year in a big way for the Panthers. The junior's hat trick powered the Kelly division leaders to a 6-1 win over Nutley-Columbia-Bloomfield on Sunday.

Nicholas Schneider

Seton Hall Prep junior forward

Schneider scored in both games for the Pirates this week to grab first place in the National division of the Gordon Conference. Schneider had a goal during Wednesday's 7-4 win over Hun. On Thursday, Schneider had a goal and an assist in a 4-2 win over Bergen Catholic.

James Tarabocchia

Don Bosco senior goalie

Tarabocchia remains one of New Jersey's top goalies, showcasing his talent against out-of-state talent this week. Tarabocchia stopped all 22 shots he faced in a 3-0 win over Suffern (NY) on Wednesday. It was Tarabocchia's second shutout of the season and eighth of his Ironmen career.
