Natasha Redmond voted Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week

After four days of voting, Mount Olive junior sprinter Natasha Redmond was selected as the Morris/Sussex Athlete of the Week.

Redmond was a triple winner at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference large-school championships, helping Mount Olive place second as a team. She won the 100 (meet-record 12.18), 200 and 400 meters, and had a 56.26-second anchor on the Marauders' third-place 4x400.

Juliana Behringer

Hanover Park sophomore thrower

Behringer won the javelin (personal-best 121-10) and shot put and finished second in discus at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school track and field championships.

Delana Einreinhofer

Wallkill Valley sophomore distance runner

Einreinhofer brought home triple distance gold – and a pair of school records in the 800 (2:18.22) and 1,600 (5:05.31) – helping the Wallkill Valley girls finish second at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school track and field championships.

Maddie Haug

Kittatinny senior defender

Haug had seven forced turnovers, reaching 100 for her career, as Kittatinny beat Montville, 13-12, in a Freedom West game on May 12.

Kate Heslin

Morris Catholic junior catcher

Heslin batted .737 with seven doubles, a home run and 11 RBI as Morris Catholic softball went 4-1, and won the Morris County Tournament title.

Chloe Higgins

Morristown Beard junior sprinter/hurdler

Higgins won the 400 meters (59.14) at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school track and field championships. She also finished second in the 200 (school-record 25.86), fourth in the 100-meter hurdles (16.52) and sixth in the 400-meter hurdles (1:09.64), all in personal-best times.

Matalina Kratzel

Hackettstown senior attack

Kratzel had three goals and an assist, three forced turnovers and nine ground balls as the Tigers lost to North Warren and defeated Morris Catholic.

Leo London

Madison sophomore distance runner

London won the 1,600 (4:27:66) and 3,200 (9:52.96) at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school track and field championships.

Kieran Marone

Lenape Valley sophomore golfer

Marone shot a personal best 1-over 72 with three birdies to finish second at the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex Tournament at Farmstead Golf & Country Club on May 11, only the second Lenape Valley golfer to earn a HWS medal.

Mikey Ramirez

Pope John sophomore midfielder

Ramirez won 10 of 23 faceoffs, scored a goal and had seven ground balls as Pope John defeated Hunterdon Central in overtime to win the Hunterdon/Warren/Sussex title on May 13. Ramirez was named the HWS Most Valuable Player.

Cody Sherrer

North Warren junior pitcher

Sherrer allowed four hits and two earned runs, striking out 15 and walking one, to earn his sixth win as the Patriots beat Sussex Tech, 6-2, on May 11. At the plate, Sherrer was 5-for-10 with two doubles and four RBI as North Warren went 2-2.

Julio Tatis

Parsippany Hills junior sprinter/hurdler

Tatis won the 400 meters (49.54), was second in the 200, and ran a 48.5-second anchor on the Vikings' third-place 4x400 at the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference small-school track and field championships.

Jack Veith

Wallkill Valley junior outfielder

Veith went 6-for-14 with a double, a triple, a walk, five runs scored and two RBI as the Rangers lost four of five games. He allowed two hits and two runs in 3⅔ innings of Wallkill Valley's victory against Kittatinny.

Brian Walsh

Mendham senior multi-eventer

Walsh won the pentathlon, breaking the 20-year-old meet record of 3,403 points, at the Loucks Games in White Plains, New York. It is the No. 2 high school pentathlon score in the United States this spring, according to Athletic.net. At the Northwest Jersey Athletic Conference large-school track and field championships, Walsh won the long jump (22-6), was second in the triple jump and high jump, and third in the 110-meter hurdles.
