Meet the Louisville-area high school girls athlete of the week from Manual soccer

Give it up for Morgan White, the Manual soccer standout who's earned The Courier Journal's latest girls athlete of the week!

White, a junior goalkeeper, had 14 saves in a 5-0 victory over St. Henry. White also posted a clean sheet in Manual's 3-0 win against Eastern.

White won by about 80 votes over runner-up Mary Oswald of CAL.

Maia Marin, Mercy Academy, volleyball

Mercy Academy junior Maia Marin delivered a standout performance, earning a double-double with 24 assists and 10 digs, accompanied by three service aces, in a 3-1 victory (25-16, 23-25, 25-20, 25-23) over Bullitt East.

Taylor Morris, Brown, soccer

Brown sophomore Taylor Morris had a remarkable outing last week against Butler. Morris scored five goals in an 8-0 victory Sept. 11.

Mary Oswald, Christian Academy of Louisville, volleyball

CAL senior Mary Oswald recorded a double-double (39 assists and 18 digs), along with three service aces, in a five-set loss (21-25, 15-25, 25-18, 27-25, 15-13) against Meade County. Oswald continued her impressive performance in the next match, securing another double-double (48 assists and 10 digs) with two service aces, contributing to her team's 3-2 victory (25-13, 18-25, 21-25, 25-23, 15-9) against Oldham County.

Julia Shoemaker, Eastern, soccer

Eastern's Julia Shoemaker ran the pitch last week. The senior standout recorded five goals and one assist in a 10-0 victory over Fern Creek. Shoemaker's scoring spree continued in the next match, when she scored a hat trick in the Eagles' 10-0 win against Fort Knox.
