Erie High diver and Northwestern basketball star win latest Athlete of the Week polls
A District 10 diving gold medalist and a one of its prolific basketball scorers this season finished first in the latest Erie Times-News Seaway Window and AHN Male and Female Athlete of the Week polls.
Alex Gabbard, an Erie High sophomore, was the victorious male. He finished first (419.50 points) in the district's Class 3A diving competition at McDowell Intermediate High School's natatorium.
Gabbard received 63 votes in a field of nine candidates. Fort LeBoeuf wrestler Jojo Przybycien was second with 46.
Presser-Palmer, who like Gabbard is a sophomore, received an even 50 first-place votes among the seven candidates listed on the female ballot. She personally outscored Sharpsville (35 points) when the Wildcats beat the Blue Devils 60-28 in the quarterfinal round of District 10's Class 3A tournament.
Lexi Kibbe, a Seneca basketball player, was second to Presser-Palmer with her 38 votes.

How it works
Each week during District 10's winter sports season, the Erie Times-News has run its Seaway Windows and AHN Male and Female Athlete of the Week polls for Erie County students.
There are two left for that span. They'll conclude the week after the end of the PIAA wrestling tournament.
The polls will run from Monday at 5 p.m. through Wednesday at 5 p.m.
Readers can nominate an athlete for them by sending an email to sports@timesnews.com, with "Athlete of the Week nominee" in the subject line. Include the athlete's name, school, sport and year, plus a breakdown of their achievements from the previous week.
Although we don't promise all nominees will be used, we will consider their additions.
