Results: Honda Cars of Aiken Augusta-area High School Athlete of the Week reader poll
It's time to vote for this week's Honda Cars of Aiken Augusta-area High School Athlete of the Week.
Silver Bluff’s Krystal Johnson took the top spot with 42.41 percent of the vote. Aiken’s Azarie Sapp (40.65) came in second and Richmond Academy’s NaCja Johnson (10.12) finished third.
The athletes featured in this poll represent the best on-field performers from the past week of high school sports competitions around the Augusta area. Dowdy scored 20 points in a 63-59 win over Burke County on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Tahjae Hawes, Cross Creek girls’ basketball
Hawes recorded 21 points and 12 rebounds in a 75-39 win over Burke County on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
Demarco Middleton, Westside boys’ basketball
Middleton averaged 18.5 points per game in wins over Midland Valley (91-31) and North Augusta (59-58) last week.
Justin Barnes, Lakeside boys’ basketball
Barnes recorded 19 points and 12 rebounds in a 64-56 loss to North Augusta on Tuesday, Dec. 5. He also added 11 points and five boards in a 71-45 win over Midland Valley on Dec. 1.
Connor Cannon, Fox Creek boys’ basketball
Cannon averaged 24 points and six rebounds in wins over Augusta Prep (70-35) and Mid-Carolina (55-39) last week.
India Williams, Westminster Schools of Augusta girls’ basketball
Williams averaged 23 points per game in wins over Dominion Christian (73-44), Aquinas (58-44) and Curtis Baptist (75-29) last week.
Taj Ford, Evans boys’ basketball
Ford scored a game-high 29 points in a 77-64 win over Greenbrier on Tuesday, Dec. 5.
NaCja Johnson, Richmond Academy girls’ basketball
Johnson scored 22 points in a 48-38 win over Evans on Friday, Dec. 8.

Porter scored 25 points in a 67-33 win over Midland Valley on Friday, Dec. 1.

Harris recorded 17 points and seven rebounds in a 64-39 win over Grovetown on Saturday, Dec.

Williams scored 22 points in a 74-67 win over Washington-Wilkes on Saturday, Dec. 2. He also added 15 points in a 70-65 win over Greenbrier the night before.
