VOTE for the Herald-Tribune Athlete of the Week for March 11-16

Each week The Herald-Tribune staff will select one finalist in each high school sport. Nominees are derived from scores and stats emailed in by Sarasota and Manatee county coaches during the week to htincoming@gmail.com. Readers can then vote in the online poll to determine the Athlete of the Week.

Last week's winner was Parrish Community High pitcher Troy Guthrie, winning the March 4-9 poll with 83.33% of the vote.

The poll will be posted at heraldtribune.com each Monday, and voting will end at 10 a.m. Friday each week.

The nominees for March 11-16:

Softball

Makenna Lee, Palmetto: Allowed two hits in five innings with 9 strikeouts in a 14-0 win over Sarasota. At the plate, Lee went 3-for-4 with two RBI.

Baseball

Tyler Cripe, Parrish: In three Bull victories, Cripe went a combined 5-for-7 with a double, 3 runs scored, 4 runs batted in, a stolen base, and a walk.

Lacrosse

Sienna Cassella, Saint Stephen's: In three Falcon matches, the senior totaled 16 goals and 6 assists.

Beach volleyball

Izzy Russell/Katie Powers, Cardinal Mooney: The Cougars' No. 1 team outscored their opponents 42-22 and 42-20 in two Mooney wins.
