The following athletes are nominated for their performances last week (Feb. 11-17):

  • Sara Chicco, Rocky Mountain girls basketball: The Lobos' senior finished her regular season career in style, scoring 54 points with seven rebounds and five steals last week as Rocky went 2-0 and clinched a home playoff game. Chicco dropped 25 points on city rival Fort Collins, including five 3-pointers in a 52-49 win that sealed the city title.

  • Billy Greenwood, Poudre boys wrestling: The Impalas' junior joined the family fun, winning a Class 5A 144-pound state championship on Saturday. He did it the hard way, winning his semifinal and title matches in overtime, part of four Impalas finalists' in a fourth-place team finish for Poudre.

  • Braeden Kerr, PSD ice hockey: The Stars' senior has PSD on an offensive tear heading into the playoffs, scoring three goals with two assists against top-10 teams last week. The district squad scored seven goals in those two games and will be the No. 5 seed in Class 5A. Kerr has assists in five of the past six games and is third on PSD with eight goals.

  • Banks Norby, Poudre boys wrestling: The Impalas' senior capped his career with the ultimate achievement, taking the 5A 157-pound state title Saturday night. He followed Greenwood by winning and controlling a defensive battle in the finals. Norby was ranked No. 1 in his class much of the year and won his first three state bouts by pin or major decision.

  • Ellayna Potter, PSD girls nordic skiing: The Stars' junior is headed to the state championships this week with some momentum. Potter won two of three runs and finished runner-up overall Saturday in the PSD-hosted CHSSL sprint championships at Steamboat Touring Center. She'll look to defend her second-team all-state spot from last season.
