Harper Creek beat Marshall on an Ella Chantrenne buzzer beater, 43-42, in Interstate 8 Conference girls basketball action on Friday. Chantrenne had a team-high 14 points including that short jumper off the glass as time ran out, to go along with eight rebounds and two steals. The junior also 13 points in a loss to Gull Lake.

Harper Creek Wrestling

Harper Creek's Devan Garcia was the lone division champ for the Beavers at the annual 19-team Evans-McGinnis Memorial Wrestling Invitational. Garcia won the 113-pound division after beating Joshua Ledford of Zeeland East, 9-2, in the finals. Led by Garcia, Harper Creek had the highest team finish at the meet and clinched the All-City Wrestling title in the process.

Marshall Boys Basketball

Austin Miller had 23 points and nine rebounds in a come-from-behind win over rival Harper Creek, 64-57, to help Interstate 8 Conference defending champ Marshall get back to .500 and stay in the race in the league standings. The team's leading scorer also had 11 points and seven rebounds in a loss to Parma Western earlier in the week.

Battle Creek Central Wrestling

Battle Creek Central's Angelo Williams earned his 100th career victory for the Bearcats as he finished second at 175 pounds at the Evans-McGinnis Memorial Wrestling Invitational at Battle Creek Central. Williams came into the day two away from the milestone and, after a bye in the first round, took care of business after his first two times on the mat on Saturday - earning the milestone victory with a 10-6 win over Landon Walter of Harper Creek in the semifinals.
