Meet the Battle Creek Enquirer Athletes of the Week, presented by Oaklawn Hospital.

Each week during the high school sports season, we will ask our readers to vote for the top performance of the week in all the winter sports, taking a look at events from Monday-Saturday.

Lakeview Girls Soccer

Lilamae Frank helped Lakeview beat Harper Creek, 2-1, in the championship final as the Spartans won the 2024 All-City girls soccer tournament. Frank scored the go-ahead goal to make it 2-1 with 13:45 left in regulation. She also added an assist.

Senior Sarah Metzger hit the first two home runs of her high school career to help Lakeview defeat Harper Creek in the finals of the annual All-City softball tournament at Bailey Park on Saturday. Lakeview defeated Harper Creek, 13-5, in the championship game as the Spartans reclaimed the title after losing it to the Beavers a year ago.

Freshman Maddie Simonds helped Lakeview win the annual All-City girls tennis tournament for the 17th straight time. Simonds took first at No. 1 singles a the Spartans won seven of eight flights in the event.

Tyler Wolfersberger came up with a dominant pitching performance as Harper Creek defeated Lakeview, 4-1, in the finals of the All-City baseball tournament at Bailey Park on Saturday. Wolfersberger earned the complete-game victory, allowing only three hits over seven innings with seven strikeouts and no earned runs.
