The polls are open!

It's time to vote for the Volusia-Flagler Athlete of the Week for the week of Dec. 4-9. Athletes for all in-season sports are eligible.

Last week, Spruce Creek soccer player Chloe Waldo took home the honors, claiming 34% of the votes.

The News-Journal gathers nominees from scores and stats emailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across the area. Coaches can email nominees to cvinel@gannett.com.

Voting will close at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour.

Basketball

Corrin Austell, New Smyrna Beach: The junior recorded 23 points in a win over University.

Keeva Heggins, Cavalry Christian: Heggins dropped 20 points while adding six rebounds and four steals in a victory over Seabreeze.

Christian Nicholas, Warner Christian: The senior posted 25 points and eight rebounds in a win over Circle Christian.

Soccer

Kaitlin Barba, Mainland: The senior picked up a hat trick in a 4-1 win over Deltona.

Emilio Garcia, Taylor: The junior scored two goals in a 5-1 win over Father Lopez.

Kylie Watson, Seabreeze: The senior kicked in two goals during a 4-1 victory over Flagler Palm Coast.

Wrestling

Alexa Calidonio, Flagler Palm Coast: Calidonio captured all three of her matches by fall to take first in the 190-pound class at the Pineda Invitational.

Raegan Hatch, Deltona: Hatch won all three of her matches by fall, claiming first place at 115 pounds at the Pineda Invitational.

Isabella Limonio, DeLand: Limonio pinned all three of her opponents to finish first in the 105-pound class at the Pineda Invitational.
