Vita Vea, Devin White, Chris Godwin game-time decisions vs. Packers

TAMPA — Despite a long injury list this week, Todd Bowles on Friday only ruled out cornerback Carlton Davis and defensive lineman Will Gholston for Sunday’s game against the Packers in Green Bay.

The head coach said everyone else on the report — nose tackle Vita Vea, wide receiver Chris Godwin, linebacker Devin White, safety Ryan Neal and long-snapper Zach Triner, will be game-time decisions. Later in the day, Vea and Neal officially were listed as “doubtful.”

Also Friday, the Bucs waived running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn, a third-round pick in 2020.

Vea, Davis and Neal were not on the field during the portion of Friday’s practice open to the media. Vea, who has been sidelined with a toe injury, was not able to participate at all, Bowles said.

White, who missed the past two games with a foot injury, returned to the practice field this week.

Triner injured an elbow during a punt last week at Atlanta. The Bucs signed Evan Deckers, who was with the team in training camp, to the practice squad as insurance. In an emergency, Bowles said, center Robert Hainsey can step in.

Godwin, who had a breakout game Sunday after a week of controversy about his usage, has been dealing with an injured knee. Neal has a back injury.

Gholston has a leg injury that affects both his knee and ankle, Bowles said earlier this week. He will miss a game for the first time since 2017.

Vaughn played 43 games over four seasons with the Bucs, rushing for 384 yards and two touchdowns on 103 carries. He fell down the depth chart this season behind Chase Edmonds and rookie Sean Tucker.

Times staff writer Rick Stroud contributed to this report.
