Virginia Duals schedule: Great Bridge has top seed in elite high school division

The Virginia Duals, a wrestling showcase at the Hampton Coliseum, begins at 9 a.m. Friday with dozens of high school and college matches on the schedule.

Great Bridge, winner of back-to-back Class 4 state championships and the top-ranked team in Hampton Roads to start this season, owns the No. 1 seed in the Townebank High School Division and takes on Franklin County at 9 a.m. Friday. The Wildcats have moved up to Class 5 under the Virginia High School League’s reclassification this school year.

Kellam and Tallwood also are in the Townebank bracket.

Other intriguing first-round matchups include Cox against New Kent — winner of four straight Class 3 titles from 2019-22 and last year’s runner-up — in the Cliff Keen High School Division; and Princess Anne vs. Staunton River, the Class 3 champ last season, also in the Cliff Keen division.

The Black & Blue High School Division features two first-round matchups between 757 teams: King’s Fork vs. Kempsville and Bethel vs. Granby.
