Vintage Heartland Hawks! Social media reacts as Iowa topples Wisconsin
I don’t even know what to say about this game. Down nearly everyone of note, the Hawkeyes beat Wisconsin, 15-6.
Yes, the game played out exactly how the final score suggests. There weren’t crucial mistakes that kept teams from capitalizing on strong drives. This was about as stereotypically bad of an Iowa–Wisconsin game as you can imagine. Neither team could move the ball, much less on third down where they were a combined 6-for-34.
This was the most Iowa win you could imagine. They scored a touchdown on a single long run, and put all of their faith in Phil Parker and LeVar Woods to get it done. And somehow it worked again. Tory Taylor showed why he is the best punter in the nation and Sebastian Castro put on a clinic on defense. It also helps when Drew Stevens is automatic at kicker.
On offense, the less said outside of that long Leshon Williams touchdown run, the better. It truly was one of the worst performances you’ll see. Somehow, this team is 6-1 (3-1 Big Ten).
